Support the WAHS PTO
All parents of students enrolled at WAHS, all staff and faculty, and any interested community members may belong to the PTO—no membership dues are required—just complete the PTO Parent Involvement Form in this packet.
Our mission is to support students, faculty, staff, and parents in matters related to the educational experiences of students at WAHS. In the past year, we have supported the school in many areas, some of which are:
- student scholarships (community college, driver’s ed, summer school)
- matched funds for a new camera for the yearbook/journalism classes
- matched funds for a new band trophy case
- teacher appreciation activities plus coffee and snacks in teachers’ lounge year round
- purchased new coffee makers for the teachers’ lounge and PTO
- extensive teacher appreciation activities
For all the good work we were able to do, the PTO had to turn down an even greater number of worthwhile requests, including library audiobooks, a laminator, field trip subsidies, a refrigerator for the teachers’ lounge, etc. Although fundraising is not a primary focus of our PTO, we do require funds to maintain our worthwhile programs. Rather than have our students sell items,we ask our parents to makea donation to the PTO. Please consider making a donation to your PTO using the tear-off sheet below.
We would like to encourage each parent to become actively involved at WAHS through the many volunteer opportunities presented in the Parent Involvement Form in this packet. We communicate primarily through e-mail, presenting opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. By registering for our e-mail distribution list on the form, you will hear first about the opportunities available. You can see on the form the variety of opportunities that exist; there truly is something for everyone. Please log on to our web page www.wahspto.com periodically to view the meeting minutes and other PTO news.
The PTO Board holds general meetings typically on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 in the office conference room. All are welcome; we love new ideas and talent!
