This year Western has two students who have excelled as a part of the Destination Imagination Program. They met and began working with students from Burley Middle School and Monticello High School to form a team. They developed a scientific investigation to test the myth of whether the Greek Sirens could lure ships to their rocks by using the sound of their voices. This results of their investigation was presented as part of a trial set in Ancient Greece using research of the judiciary customs of the time period. The team also built an accurate working water clock from only recyclable materials. Their creativity and research won them first place at both the region and the state tournaments and accolades from the appraisers who wrote "This team injected creativity into every last drop of the performance - from design of the characters' costumes as polays on words to the witty reparte in the courtroom. Each aspect of the performance was unique - wow!"
We would like to honor Joanna Moody and Charlotte Cherry on their first place awards and wish them luck at the Global Finals Competition on May 21st.
